No. The Project is not a daycare. The Project is a safe place for anyone to stop in and/or hang out, with the ultimate goal of assisting with activities and community service projects while hanging out. Individuals are able to come and go as they please and no minimum amount of service time is required. This is a public establishment and everyone is welcome; however, children under the age of 6 should have an older sibling, parent or guardian with them.
Volunteers are not required to participate in a particular number of hours; and the age and abilities of volunteers also vary greatly. Therefore, any service project will be considered, but not all projects may be accepted. In some situations, the details of The Project's participation in a particular service project may be adjusted to allow us to accept the service project request. Please contact us if you have a service project you would like to discuss.
We're glad you are interested in becoming a volunteer! It's easy! Simply CALL, CLICK, or SHOW UP!
Call 314-910-3894, Click the Become a Volunteer link below, or Show Up at 721A Mississippi Ave., Crystal City, MO 63019.
There is no required age for volunteers; however, anyone under the age of 18 must have permission slips signed for photo usage, and participation in our "walking distance" and "off-site" service projects if attending without their parent or guardian present. Children hanging out at The Project under the age of 6 should have an older sibling, parent or guardian with them. Permission slips are available via the Forms link below.
Absolutely not. Although most volunteers at this time are elementary and junior high school aged, it is our desire to see high schoolers, parents, and other adult community members become involved and regularly volunteer.
Service hours are tracked in quarter-hour (0.25) increments. Two types of service hours may be earned and counted toward the monthly service hour contests and goals: Direct and Indirect.
Direct Service Hours are earned by working on and participating in service projects and activities
Indirect Service Hours are earned by working on and participating in projects and activities which benefit others and the community while NOT with The Project, but choosing to perform the service for The Project or as a Volunteer and representative of The Project.
Examples of Indirect Service Hours:
For His Families, Inc. is the nonprofit organization under which The Project operates. We are excited to announce our determination letter was just received from the IRS!
For His Families, Inc. has been determined exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) and is further classified as a public charity. Donors can deduct contributions they make to our organization under IRC Section 170. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
